Chandigarh, is one of the most modern cities of the world designed by a Swiss-French modernist architect, Le Corbusier. It is though a federally run city but is also a capital to two North Indian states – Punjab and Haryana. The city is at the foothills of the Shivalik mountain range and has a sprawling lake, which together keep it cooler than the other cities around. The city is now home to wealthy Punjabis, mostly Zamindars , NRIs and high ranking bureaucrats, who have chosen to live here. The city has also evolved a the retiree capital of the region.
