Srinagar is the largest city of Jammu and Kashmir. It lies in the Kashmir Valley on the banks of the Jhelum River, a tributary of the Indus, and Dal Lake and Anchar lake. The river winds through the city and valley and deepens in the Dal Lake Srinagar is also famous for the nine bridges that connects the two parts of the city. It has a number of other lakes and swamps in and around it including Nigeen , Khushal Sar, Gil Sar and Hoker Sar.
Some of the more popular sight seeing places are its gardens, waterfronts and houseboats. The traditional Kashmiri handicrafts , dried fruits and tourism are the life lines of Kashmir.
